Setting up risk analysis

Prerequisites

(see Switch to extended rights)

Preamble
Quarks Safety offers drop-down menus to assist in capturing the different stages of risk assessment. By default, the proposed labels come from the INRS evaluation methods.

The risk analysis configuration menu allows you to customize labels as close as possible to business vocabulary.

Two risk assessment methods are available on Quarks Safety:

  • INRS ND2233 Method
  • R&D Method, specifically developed for laboratories.

The method is activated by the technical service during platform deployment.
Below, the method concerned by the description of the setting when it is specific is specified.

Levels, class and/or value that have an impact on the result of the risk assessment are recommended not to be modified.
Ideally, test the desired modifications on the staging base before any configuration of the production base.

Exposure Levels

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > Exposure Levels

Important: The exposure route column should not be modified.

Usage Durations

Setting reserved for the INRS ND2233 risk assessment method with the Frequency with duration activated option.
The lower the class, the higher the value should be.

Usage Frequencies

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > List of Usage Frequencies

Process Ratings

Setting reserved for the INRS ND2233 evaluation method.

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > Process List

Inhalation section:
Process: The process description is displayed in a tooltip to assist the user in filling out the usage form.

Mastery Degrees

Setting reserved for the R&D evaluation method.

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > Mastery Degrees

The setting of mastery degrees and their selection in usage forms are accessible to HSE functions.
The Mastery Degree right in the HSE Functions section must be assigned to the role.

The lower the factor value, the higher the mastery coefficient is during risk assessment.
It’s the label that appears in the Mastery selector in the Inhalation and Cutaneous sections of the Risk Assessment tab of the usage form.

EPC

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > EPC

The list of EPCs retrieved when selecting usage locations or declaring usage are set in this menu.
Depending on the selected risk assessment method, the elements to be filled in differ, but in both cases, the lower the class, the more the risk is minimized during the assessment.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > PPE

A default list of PPE is provided. It can be modified.

Only PPEs that have never been used in a risk assessment can be deleted.

When duplicates are detected:

1. Select the PPE that should no longer be selected by clicking on its name then click on Mark this PPE to merge it into another.

2. Select the PPE with which the previously selected one should be merged.

3. Click on Import the data and delete the PPE.

In the case of a multi-structure, it is possible to choose the one for which the PPE is created.

By default, the user’s structure is proposed if their rights only apply to a single structure.
Select All structures when creating or modifying a PPE.

Exposed Surfaces

Configuration reserved for the INRS ND2233 evaluation method

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > Exposed Surfaces

Screen exposed surfaces

The default values proposed are those of the INRS method.
Here, the higher the class, the larger the exposure surface.
Respect the scale of the given values (from 1 to 10) of the Class to ensure a consistent risk assessment.

Volatility Rating

Configuration reserved for the INRS ND2233 evaluation method.

Applications Menu > Chemical Products > Configuration > Risk Analysis > Volatility Rating

Regardless of the entered labels, respect the class rating: the lower it is, the less likely the volatility.
