Check data extracted from the SDS

The data extractor from the SDS is an effective aid for filling in the Product form.
However, it cannot replace the professional’s judgment.

After associating a safety data sheet (SDS) with a Product form,
it is necessary to verify the data from the 4 tabs:

  • Product
  • Hazards
  • Properties
  • SDS

Product

Compare the Composition of the product in the Product form with the data from the section 3 of the SDS:

  • Number of substances
  • Identifiers
  • Concentration (pay attention to the signs: ≤   ≥)

– If there’s an error, correct with

– If a substance is missing, add it with

– If there’s an extra substance, delete it with

– If the identifier CE Index is missing, Modify the substance data by adding the manufacturer’s classification.

If the substance’s identifier is in black (unknown designation) e.g. 26628-22-8, this means that the link with the regulatory substance database was not established.
Click on the link Ambiguous Substance to choose the correct identifiers for the concerned substance.

If the concentration information of a substance is missing in the SDS data and/or the Product form, it is considered 100% for mixture classification verification calculations.

Hazards

1. Compare the Hazard statements from the Product form with the data from the section 2 of the SDS:

  • H and EUH hazard statements
  • Hazard statement categories

In case of an error, correct with then delete the extra statement with or add the missing statement in the Classifications field.

If the statement Specify the classification appears, specify by clicking on it.

2. Verify the Dangerousness of the product:

  • Classified as dangerous
  • CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic)

In case of an error, correct with

3. Compare the Precautionary statements from the Product form with the SDS data in section 2.

In case of an error, correct with then delete the extra statement with or add the missing statement in the Precautionary statement field.

Properties

Compare the Physico-chemical properties of the Product form with the SDS data in section 9, at a minimum:

  • pH
  • Boiling temperature
  • Flash point
  • Vapor pressure
  • Density
  • Kinematic and dynamic viscosity

These data have an impact on various tool calculations.
If they are missing, the tool will apply default data.
In case of an error, correct with

SDS

Verify the tracking information of the SDS data in the header, footer, or in section 16:

  • Language
  • Revision date
  • Revision number

If there’s an error, in the SDS History, correct with
